Understanding the Six Sigma Green Belt

As office manager, executive, and personal assistant to the president and CEO of Cal-Am Properties, Stephanie Zargar is responsible for daily operations such as the hiring, training, and termination of staff, as well as supervising a fleet of vehicles worth over $1 million. Stephanie Zargar is also Six Sigma green belt certified.

Six Sigma practitioners endeavor to improve their organizations’ operations quality by employing systematized procedures and instituting metrics that lessen the chance of flaws. There are various levels of Six Sigma certifications, including white belt, yellow belt, green belt, black belt, and two higher levels, whose practitioners all contribute to the organization’s success. The green belt certification involves professionals undertaking a full course that acquaints them with Six Sigma approaches for establishing and enhancing procedures, services, and products.

They learn about the utilization of well-grounded foundational practices, including define, measure, analyze, improve, and control (DMAIC). Green belts have an important role in the improvement process, as they are well-versed team players who are determined to enhance process quality. They assist in bridging the gap between real-world practices and the theories in Six Sigma. Those who seek green belt certification should have 3 to 4 years of full-time work experience, analytical minds, and leadership skills.
